How I Got my 1st Customer in Lead Gen Business

I’d like to share with you how I got my very 1st customer in this business…

11 PM… I’m having a beer and just chillin’…

My notebook is still on and I see an incoming connection request

No message in the request, just blank.

I accept it.

The moment I accept I receive a message……

Nope, it was not a sales pitch.

Just a simple question.

“You have mentioned on your profile you can help to generate leads on LinkedIn. How can you help me?”

Around 10 minutes after we were already on a call and guess what was my 1st question after the small talk.

HOW DID YOU FIND ME?

And just to be clear:

a) He was not my ideal customer (as it turned out later, I was wrong)
b) I had not even viewed his profile or interacted with him in any way
c) At that time I had 0 posts on my balance.
d) Around 20 days after the “launch” of the business

His answer was: I just searched “b2b lead generation” on LinkedIn, your profile popped up, had a look at it, liked it and thought to reach out.

Long story short, literally 3 days later I signed a contract with my very first customer for this business.

Why am I sharing this story?

Because I want you to know how important your profile is for future opportunities.

Opportunities can be in the form of a new 9–5 job or a new customer

Even though I strongly recommend being active on LinkedIn, providing value, etc.

As just having a nice profile will most likely not keep your pipeline full,

But at that time I wasn’t even doing that, I was just starting

And I only had an optimized profile. That’s it.

So, if you have not done it yet, start today!

Take some time and make sure you are fully ready to be reached out to)

If not, you might be missing a lot.

So, a question to you — is your profile ready for the next big opportunity?
